Eldridge Hawkins, Jr. was raised in West Orange and attended St. Joseph’s & Redwood Schools. He later graduated from Seton Hall Prep and obtained his MBA in management from Seton Hall University. He is also a former Mayor and a retired West Orange Police Officer.
As the former mayor of a neighboring town, Eldridge successfully brought in over One Hundred Million Dollars in grants and alternative funding sources to support redevelopment, stabilize taxes, and hire police & fire personnel to keep the community safe.
Providing tax relief includes managing our way to a better budget, identifying alternative sources of revenue, building our local economy by effectively marketing our town, and recruiting more commercial businesses to broaden our tax base.
Developing a “Science Incubator” at the Edison site focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Coupled with commercial businesses this will serve as an anchor for our downtown, create jobs and improve educational opportunities for our youth.
There will also be a focus on developing and expanding the Valley Arts District.
Improving community policing, engage crime fighting through environmental design and other proactive strategies to keep our community safe.
